[I came across this article today. This happened in February 2023, so it's a few months old. I am going to try to see if I can get someone to talk and to confirm if she is white. I know this area well, and my guess is that there is a 90% chance that she might be Whites. Lots of old White pensioners live in this area. I have edited this because I know someone who was mentioned in this article. Jan]An 83-year-old woman was found brutally murdered in her home in Montgomery Park following a home invasion.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said, “We have opened a case of murder and house robbery after the body of an 83-year-old woman was found in her house on February 7.”
Sophiatown police were called to the scene and found the victim tied to a chair, with both her legs and hands bound. Some of her belongings were reported missing, according to Masondo.
xxxx who was on the scene said, “This is a very distressing case and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this terrible time. It is unclear if the suspects were known to the victim or not at this stage. Because the property is easily accessible from the street with low walls and so on, we have donated one of our guards to protect the property while the family replaces the locks and implements measures to make the house secure. It is a real tragedy that transpired.”
He said should the suspects be known to the victim, it is a good time to remind the community to document the personal details of all workers who have access to homes like domestic workers and gardeners.
