Nothing shocked me as much about the power of Jews as when I had direct discussions with my close Jewish friend of over 20 years regarding what the Jews are up to.

These are the most dangerous cities in South Africa Here is a look at the most dangerous cities in South Africa based on data from residents’ perceptions and statistics.

Crime and safety rankings and studies show that both perceptions and statistical data identify several local cities as ranking among some of the worst in the world when it comes to safety. Here are the most dangerous cities in South Africa.

NUMBEO’S MID-YEAR 2024 CRIME INDEX

Numbeo’s crime index by city has revealed Pietermaritzburg as the city in South Africa with the highest crime levels. The data is based on perceptions of crime by survey respondents.

The other cities on Numbeo’s list of the unsafest SA cities are Pretoria, Joburg, Durban, and Gqeberha. The survey incorporates information about general perceptions of crime levels and perceived safety. It also includes other aspects such as types of crimes. Caracas in Venezuela and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil were other cities on Numbeo’s top 10 list.

Despite this data being based on limited perceptions, it gives a broad view of crime and safety in specific regions. Insights from the Numbeo statistics are very useful. Several rankings, studies, and research papers show a consistent trend of high levels of crime in South Africa’s major cities.

HARD, STATISTICAL DATA

Looking at reported crimes and harder statistical data, it is apparent that crime levels – particularly violent crime – in South Africa’s cities are some of the highest in the world, as reported by Business Tech.

A report published last year by the South African Cities Network showed eThekwini (Durban) and Cape Town as both having extremely high murder rates, also in a global sense. This report only looked at major metropolitan municipalities and therefore it did not include Pietermaritzburg.

In the Mexican Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice annual ranking of the 50 most violent cities in the world for 2024, shows Nelson Mandela Bay (Gqeberha) as the most violent city in South Africa. It was ranked in 9th position on the global list. Seven Mexican cities, a city in Ecuador, and a city in Haiti, were the others on the top 10. Durban and Cape Town were ranked 16th and 17th respectively.

Markedly, only five cities recorded over 2 000 murders on this global list and South Africa accounts for three of them.
