Four suspects aged between 25 and 32 were arrested on the Simon Vermooten off ramp in Silverton.
It’s reported that information received was operationalised by the members of Tactical Operations Management Section of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation with the assistance of Crime Intelligence, Tracker Connect, Special Task Force and the SAPS Airwing.
The team observed the identified vehicle on the N4 west. The suspects tried to evade the team by driving into the residential areas and back onto the N4 but the team kept on their heels. The suspects collided with a pole on Rossouw Street but kept on driving.
On Simon Vermooten off ramp, the team successfully cornered the suspects and they all were arrested. The suspects’ vehicle is reported to have been hijacked in Acornhoek in February this year.
Two cellphones, gate remote and heavy-duty gloves were recovered inside the vehicle.
The suspects will be appearing in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday, 26 April 2021 on a charge of possession of a suspected hijacked motor vehicle.
The Hawks are not ruling out the possibility of the suspects being linked to other crimes committed in the Tshwane area.
