[They've been working on this new, flawed power station for a long time. I find it amazing that weird explosions are taking place. One wonders what is really going on there. Jan]Eskom has confirmed that a generator of Unit 4 of the Medupi power plant exploded last night. This caused Unit 5 to trip. Seven staff members were treated for shock. JOHANNESBURG – Eskom has confirmed that a generator of Unit 4 of the Medupi power plant exploded on Sunday night, which caused Unit 5 to trip.
Seven staff members were treated for shock.
All work at the plant has been suspended.
Energy expert Chris Yelland says one of the units was down for maintenance.
