A human head and legs (picture 2) were discovered in a rubbish dump in Amouti – KZN this morning (Friday).
A man in search of valuables stumbled upon a person refuse bag. He discovered a head and two (2) human legs that were dismembered from below the knees. The male informed the community of his discovery and contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre for assistance.
Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and arrived on scene at approximately 08:06. On arrival, members of the community pointed out the heap of rubbish and the refuse bag containing the body parts. Injuries to the male head indicate that the deceased was assaulted.
Officers discovered a second refuse bag wrapped in a blood stained sheet. Upon further inspection, two human legs that were dismembered from the knees to the pelvis were discovered. A pink child’s jacket and blue baby blanket (picture 4) was found next to the packets containing the body parts. Both garments were also blood soaked.
While attending to the scene, a female informed Reaction Officers that a body part was located approximately 500 meters away. Officers proceeded with the female and discovered a penis (picture 3) on a pathway.
The motive and identity of the deceased has not been established at this stage.
