S.Africa: Oaklands drive by shooting, man killed on his balcony

Jan]A man in his twenties was shot and killed in a drive by shooting on Westbrook Drive in Oaklands, Verulam in Kwazulu Natal on the morning of Saturday 12 December 2020.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to a residential property at approx 02:09 after receiving multiple calls from residents in the area reporting a shooting.
On arrival a man who is believed to be in his twenties was found lying in the balcony with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Paramedics.
It was established that the deceased was a private security officer employed by the homeowner to safeguard the premises and the occupants. Witnesses reported seeing a man seated at the back of a Isuzu double cab bakkie opening fire on the residence. The bakkie sped off in an unknown direction following the incident.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.
