S.Africa: Crime: Kidnapped twins (6 months old) rescued, father arrested, Rustenburg

Jan]The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena applauded the Rustenburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, supported by Gauteng Provincial Crime Intelligence and Evaton Tactical Response Team (TRT) for successfully locating kidnapped twins and arresting a 37-year-old suspect.
The suspect who is the biological father of the children, was on Wednesday, 13 January 2021, arrested in Evaton for the alleged kidnapping of the then six months old twins. The latter’s parents were separated and staying at different places in Rustenburg at the time of the incident.
The father, in accordance with the apparent arrangement, was daily in the morning taking the children to the child care centre while the mother was responsible to fetch them in the afternoon. However, the mother was informed by the staff at the centre on Thursday afternoon, 26 November 2020 that the father never dropped the twins. Neither attempts to call the father nor tracing him at his business premises yielded positive results. Thus, the matter was reported to the police for investigation.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on a charge of kidnapping.
